Bronze statue from Burkina Faso
The bronze sculptures in our collection are all handmade and unique. The bronze casters use the recessing technique for this. The figures are first made of beeswax, then a clay mold is placed around them. The wax is melted, creating a space into which the molten bronze can be poured. The finishing touches are filing and coloring with a pattination.
Bronze casting has always been a traditional and important craft in Burkina Faso.
