Bronze statue from Burkina Faso

The bronze statues in our collection are all handmade and unique. The bronze casters use the recess technique for this. The figures are first made in beeswax, then a clay mold is placed around it, the wax is melted, creating space in which the liquid bronze can be poured. This is followed by the finishing of filing and coloring with a pattinage.

Bronze casting has always been a traditional and important craft in Burkina Faso.
